As a Sixth Former at Cardinal Langley you’ll have the opportunity to get involved in our enrichment programme, which is a programme of extra activities that are put on exclusively for Sixth Form students. We put a lot of emphasis on the importance of our enrichment programme as involvement in these activities can aid university applications, can give students the opportunity to experience things they otherwise might not do and gives students the chance to meet and interact with new people. There is flexibility in terms of what we are actually able to provide, but a list of the enrichment activities that have been provided in the past include:
- Visit to Imperial War Museum at Salford Quays
- Book Club
- Job Shadowing
- Sports Volunteers
- Volunteering with homeless charity
- Visit to National Football Museum in Manchester
- Visit to St George’s Park (National Football Academy)
- Visit to the Velodrome in Manchester
- Conference relating to getting in to Oxford and Cambridge Universities
- Photography taster
- Trip to BBC studios in Salford Quays
- Sporting events
- Football and netball teams
- Driving theory lessons
- Duke of Edinburgh Award
- Helping out in local primary schools for one afternoon per week
- Film club
- Theatre club (going watching shows / musicals)
- Helping out at local swimming / athletics / football clubs

- Helping younger students in school with basic reading or maths one hour per week

In Sixth Form, students also have the opportunity of going on the London cultural trip, volunteering with sick and elderly people in Lourdes, volunteering at the Good Life Orphanage and local primary school in Mombasa, Kenya and joining students from other years on annual trips such as skiing and a visit to Rome. Additionally, some of students have been selected students to represent the Sixth Form on a visit to Auschwitz and we offer students the chance of travelling to Cambridge or Oxford in the summer term to sample the lectures and facilities on offer. The college has links with several universities and works in partnership with many of these on their access and pathways programmes including the Oxbridge colleges as well as more local universities such as Manchester, Leeds, Liverpool and Edge Hill.
